Beside Lights EP Launch

I am currently in love with local boys Beside Lights. They put a lot of work into their EP launch, and it showed. Blew me away.

The Jezabels

I was lucky enough to photograph The Jezabels on their album tour. Absolutely amazing gig, on my top5 for best performances I've seen. And Canadian support band Hey Rosetta! were just as good.

Recycled Fashion

Today I did a shoot with Megan Sears.

Meg makes crazy sculptural garments from discarded mattresses.

I Know This Now

Timothy Nelson & The Infidels at Amps, October 1st.

Great gig.

Daily Life (on film)

Who Told You To Shave Off Your Beard?!

The Beards at Indi Bar, September 18th.

I was publicly shamed for my lack of facial hair.
I am officially never shaving my face again. Maybe one day I too can have a beautiful, luxurious beard of my very own.

The Ending is Just The Beginning Repeating

The Living End, Metro City, September 16.
Supported by Hunting Grounds.

Sunset Walk (on film)

I had not been making enough time for my photography. I was given a pep-talk by my lecturer about how I needed to find it a place in my life.

So I loaded a roll of film into my camera, and went for a walk to the beach.

Honey

Glassware assignment for my Photography for Advertising unit.

Honey, from the Lollipop Bling range by Mariah Carey.

Butterflies

I'm currently doing a 1st-year graphic design unit on colour, during which we went on an excursion (!) to the museum to look at butterflies.

Playboy campaign

So I have to do an advertising campaign for one of my assignments. This is what ended up.

Red Descending

Last Friday, Red Descending launched their album Kingdoms at Amps. And much awesomeness ensued.

Random '09 shots

Also, here's a few random shots from the first time I ever played with my old SLR. Sadly, this camera died taking my first shot at Wave Rock Weekender 2010.

Picturing the Dark

Another first-year assignment. I got to play with push processing!

Beach Soccer

First-year uni assignment, to prove we knew how to work with shutter speed.

Tashie

Film shots from my first uni photography unit, back in 2009. Because all the cool kids hang out at the Esplanade..

Wave Rock Weekender '09

Here's the film shots I took at Wave Rock Weekender in '09. Fun times shooting at night, makes things a little bit trippy.

Cafecino

Photos taken October 2009, at/for Cafecino in Claremont, who still plan at some point to enlarge a selection and use them to replace the paintings on the walls.

Digging up film photos

So I just realised that I only have one photograph of analogue origin on this entirety of interweb-space. So now to fix it.

And here come the posts..

Jewelery photo shoot.

Today I got to photograph some of the pretties my friend made. I've never really shot little pretty things before, so I'm quite pleased with the way they turned out.

Redesign

Ok, given things a little bit of a spring makeover (winter, whatever). It was getting a little old, and with my new business cards arriving within the next week or two, I figured the design of the two should not clash quite so much as they did.

I have a friend working on a real website for me, so that will be done sometime within the next... year. Or so. Until then, enjoy the re-vamp.

Art Vs. Science

Just realised I never posted anything about Art Vs. Science. June 30 at Metro City, supported by... some Melbourne outfit who seemed fun until the playing of music turned more masturbatory than for the benefit of the crowd. AvSc were as good as a band can really be when they're stuck behind keyboards. Their music is fun, it was loud, and there were crazy coloured lights.

Hungry Kids of Hungary

May 7th, Hungry Kids were in town playing the Rosemount for their album tour. Just realised I never put any photos up. Supported by Andy Bull and local boys The Chemist.

Scheming.

In a few weeks I will be campaigning for votes to win a competition. Well any good campaign needs a poster girl! Although since it's about me, that meant I had to direct/model for a photo shoot of my very own. Dislike the lack of control of the camera in another person's hands, but my sister did a great job for a non-photographer, so much thanks to her!

Fire in Fiji

A month ago, myOE sent myself and 46 other final-year uni students from around Australia and New Zealand to Fiji for a weekend (to compete for a free UK trip). One of the boys entertained us one night with his fire twirling skills.

Red Dusk Fashion Launch

On Thursday night, local designer/retailer Red Dusk held a fashion launch at Voodoo Lounge.

There was beautiful styling, beautiful woman, a songstress, a snake dancer, burlesque routines, and of course (being the Voodoo Lounge) Australia's most beautiful strippers.

Most Beautiful Alley.

I was photographing in the city on Sunday, and I stumbled upon the most amazing alleyway. How I hadn't found it before, I have no idea; but it resulted in my new favourite photograph.

Grass baskets

I'm doing a visual arts/sudio unit for giggles, and in one of our textiles classes we got taught how to coil baskets. I had fun and thus went out and made another one.

The Butterfly Effect

Shot The Butterfly Effect tonight at Metropolis Fremantle. Only the second gig I've shot this year, damn it was nice to be doing again! The Siren Tower supported, and were amazing.

Steampunk Chuck Taylor.

If Converse were to make a steampunk-themed Chuck Taylor, I'd like it to look something like this.

Not finished, but something along those lines I think :)

Georgie

Georgie first started pole dancing at Bobbi’s Pole Studio, Perth, in 2008. While she had done many styles of dance in high school, pole-dancing scared her a little: “I’d heard how difficult it actually was!”. But after watching her sister’s class, she fell in love, and signed up to four classes on the spot. Georgie has now been an instructor at the studio for one and a half years.

Death

For a costume party last night, my friend dressed as Death from the Sandman comic series, and I did her makeup.

'Zlo day at the farm.

Last Wednesday, I went to my grandparents' farm for the day. Took a few photos of my kangaroo Winslow, and my first car-mirror shots, just because I never had.

Kiss My Camera

So as part of the WAMi Festival each year, WAM runs the Kiss My Camera music photography competition. From the gazillions of photographs that absolutely anyone submits (from amateurs to uber-professionals), a heap are selected for the exhibition, up in the WA Museum for two months. They also go in the running to win the 'Grand Prize' or 'People's Choice Award'.

Drawing Class #1

So this semester, on top of my photography-related units, I'm doing a drawing unit. I haven't really done much drawing since high school, so I'm hoping it's fun.

I did one "nice" drawing today.

Invites

Today I made a heap of invites for a friend's 21st birthday party.

Theme: Heroes and Villains.

(The images used in the designs are not my own)

Pin-Up

I've been going through all my photos, and thought I'd post up a few of my favourite pin-up/boudoir shots of 2010 :)
